On December 5, 1698,
the 'NEW' SETTLEMENT of HAMBATO was FOUNDED
This was with the Royal Decree this time, in this case a court ruling, which entailed the ‘blessing’ of the HIGHEST authorities of the Royal Audience of Quito, so the HAMBATEÑOS residents could officially and legally acquire SETTLEMENT status, in the land that had ancestrally be, up until a few months before, the property of the Indians of Quisapincha, among others those called by San Bartolome...;

THE FIRST AUTHORITIES

The following people then became the first authorities for the Province of the new Settlement of Hambato (1698): (Some because they had already been leaders, one by ‘popular’ acclamation, and others de facto.)
